John C. Ullmann Jr.

Saturday, July 12, 2014

John C. Ullmann Jr., a man who never knew a stranger, passed from this life Thursday, July 10, 2014, at St. Lukes Hospital, in Kansas City, Mo., following an illness of several months. He was born March 8, 1954, in Detroit, Mich., to John Charles Ullmann Sr. and Genevieve Mary Ullmann. He was united in marriage to Judy Lathrop on Aug. 1, 1987, in Branson, Mo., and she survives of the home.

John's familiar greeting of "Hey Brother," or "Hey Sister" was definitive of how John felt about people. He was the epitome of a great guy, kind, caring, loyal, generous, funny, and loving. John loved his wife of 27 years, Judy, and his two children, Erin Krummen and her husband, Daniel, of Nixa and Matt Lathrop and his wife, April, Corinth, Miss. John loved his four grandsons, Garrison, Riley, Carter, and Peyton; his sister, Susie Woods, Phoenix, Ariz.; two brothers, Jim Taylor, Jacksonville, Fla., and Leslie Taylor, Dallas, Texas; his mother-in-law, Helen Dahmer, Nevada; and the rest of his extended family.

John loved his friends and enjoyed having a good time. He loved his dogs. And it goes without saying, John loved golf. John even truly loved his job because he considered his customers friends and he wanted to take excellent care of them. In short, John loved life. His passing will leave a hole in the hearts of many.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, July 14, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with the Rev. Creighton Cox officiating. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Children's Center or Vernon County People for Pets in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
