Doris B. Legg, 97, formerly of Sheldon, Mo., passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014, at the New Hope Manor, in Cedar Park, Texas. She was born Nov. 8, 1916, in Willis, Kan., to Walter M. Brashear and Christabelle Ada (Brashear) Taylor. Doris was united in marriage to Samuel Francis Legg on May 24, 1952, in Bentonville, Ark., and he preceded her in death.

Doris grew up in Kansas and graduated high school with the Horton Class of 1936. She lived most of her life in the Sheldon area, working for the Nevada State Hospital for a number of years until her retirement. She was a longtime member of the local Order of the Eastern Star Chapter. She also lived for a time in the Liberty/Kansas City area. In 2003, she moved to Texas, living the last 11 years in the Lone Star state.

Survivors include two daughters, Sondra Baska and her husband, John, Georgetown, Texas, and Karen Tooley and her husband, Bob, Lenexa, Kan.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.

Graveside services are scheduled at 11 a.m., Friday, July 18, at the Sheldon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., just prior to the service at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada.
