Weird calendar days in July

Friday, July 18, 2014

Hi neighbors.

Although the "normal" calendar shows very little to celebrate during the rest of July, certain so-called weird calendars list strange holidays for every day of any month. Here is a composite example.

The 19th you can celebrate National Raspberry Cake Day or Stick Out Your Tongue Day, or play a few games of chess to recognize International Chess Day.

If you're not too worn out, you can keep up the pace on the 20th with Moon Day, National Moon Walk Day, National Lollipop Day and/or the ever popular Ugly Truck Day celebration.

If you insult the wrong folks over Ugly Truck Day, you can use the 21st to celebrate Get Out of the Doghouse Day, or you might pull you children out of the pool long enough to enjoy Global Hug Your Kids Day or take them out for National Junk Food Day or National Ice Cream Day.

By the 22nd you might feel like enjoying Hammock Day, Fudge Day, Rat Catcher's Day or Spooner's Day.

The 23rd is one of my favorite holidays, Gorgeous Grandma Day. Probably we will all find a reason to celebrate "Hot Enough for Ya Day" or National Hot Dog Day, along with National Vanilla Ice Cream Day.

You might want to call your cousins on the 24th for Cousin's Day, or have a cup of coffee as it is also Instant Coffee Day (not my favorite form of coffee). It is also National Drive-Thru Day, and for those so inclined, National Tequila Day. The 24th is also Tell an Old Joke Day, and we all know some old jokes to pull on the grandkids, right?

To make it up to the kids let them dress up on the 25th which is Act Like a Caveman Day. You could take them out for a ride as it is National Carousel Day, Chili Dog Day and Hot Fudge Sundae Day. A new holiday is also on the 25th, System Administrator Appreciation Day, but I'll admit I have no idea how to find a system administrator, much less appreciate them.

There is a lot to do on the 25th so take notes. It's Talk in an Elevator Day but I'm not certain where all of the elevators in Nevada are located. Trust me there are several.

The 26th has a lot to do as well. It is All or Nothing Day, Aunt and Uncle Day, Disability Independence Day, National Coffee Milkshake Day (I like that!), National Day of the Cowboy, National Dance Day and One Voice Day.

Moving on to the 27th: it is National Scotch Day, Parents' Day, Take Your Houseplants for a Walk Day (what?), Take you Pants for a Walk Day (guess you do that while you're walking your plants -- at least I hope so) and the always popular Walk on Stilts Day.

Not to be outdone, the 28th celebrates National Milk Chocolate Day (YES!).

The 29th has National Chicken Wing Day and National Lasagna Day.

The 30th encourages us to celebrate our father-in-laws and it is the International Day of Friendship. Since it is also National Cheesecake Day, you might want to use that for your party.

The 31st celebrates optimism with Always Live Better Than Yesterday Day, Jump for Jelly Beans Day and National Mutt Day.

You can best meet all the needs of this day by taking dog treats to the Pound and watching the mutts jump around and play with them for a while.

Until the next time friends, remember that with or without a name and national acclaim, every day is a day to celebrate our friends, family and pets, as well as our way of life.
