Bicycle routes pending for Nevada

Four bicycle routes through Nevada depend on a grant from 3M, as discussed at the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee meeting Thursday.

The grant would pay for signs on routes starting at the community center and looping near Izaak Walton Lake, Marmaduke Park and Postlethwaite Park. Frank Brisco said the city and MoDOT are on board with the project.

Brisco also updated the committee on the project to turn the abandoned railroad on the south side of town into a five-mile trail.

"We need to get together with Rails to Trails foundation, a non-profit trying to extend the Katy Trail to Texas," he said. "I'll see if we can get everybody working together to get our little section done."
