Robert Martin Hagenson (TSGT -- Retired), 77, of Nevada, Mo., was born March 12, 1937, in Gilman, Wis., the son of Henry O. and Sara Louise (Quesnell) Hagenson, and passed from this life on July 30, 2014, at Kindred Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. On June 1, 1957, he was united in marriage to Alberta Joan Campbell at St. Mary's Catholic Church, in Nevada, and she survives of the home. To their blessed union five children were born.

Robert grew up and attended school in Gilman then shortly thereafter entered the United States Air Force serving our country for more than 21 years. He served during the Vietnam Era as well as being stationed in Okinawa for three years. During his military years, the family spent time in Nebraska, Wisconsin, Kansas, Tennessee, Arizona, and Missouri. Despite being stricken with Polio at a young age, Robert always excelled at his military commitment and throughout his life. After his retirement from Air Force duty, the family made their home in Bellevue, Neb., where he worked as groundskeeper for the Bellevue Public School System for 25 years.

He retired from the groundskeeper position but continued to drive a bus for the district from time to time. He and Alberta moved to Missouri in 1999 making the Nevada area their home where he and she were both members of St. Mary's Catholic Church. While living in Nevada he also drove a bus for the Nevada Public School System for a few years. Robert was an outstanding family man, always putting his family first in all of his decisions. In what spare time he had he enjoyed collecting scale model tractors, model convertibles, and had a large collection of favorite caps.

Aside from his wife, Alberta, Robert is survived by his children, Teresa Joan Hagenson, of Nevada, Robert Hagenson Jr. and his wife, Michelle, of Bellevue, Neb., Chris Hagenson and his wife, Cathy, of Fitchburg, Wis., Sunday Thomas, of Shawnee, Okla., and Lisa King and her husband, Jon, of Louisville, Ky.; grandchildren, Heather Hagenson, Zachary Hagenson, Ryan Hagenson, Abby Hagenson, Sara Cotter, Andrew Cotter, Megan Cotter, James Thomas, Jason Thomas, George Thomas, Christian Thomas, Robert King, and Kayla King; great-grandchildren, Raidyn, Mason, Jaiden, and Layla; brother, Eugene Hagenson and his wife, Donna, of Stanley, Wis.; sisters, Mary Lou Mattes of Thorpe, Wis., and Arlene Dubiak of Gilman, Wis.; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jerry.

A visitation with family remarks is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday, Aug, 4, at Ferry Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will follow at 1:30 p.m., at the Fort Scott National Cemetery in Fort Scott, Kan.
