Ruby Etta Emery, 95, of Nevada, Mo., the daughter of Myron Willis and Grace Jesse (Heslop) Boughton, was born June 23, 1919, in Neosho Falls, Kan., and passed from this life on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at Mercy Hospital, in Joplin.

Ruby graduated from Neosho Falls High School and later she, along with her family, moved to a farm just south of Nevada. Ruby was united in marriage to Virgil Horner and together they owned and operated Horner Flower Shop on North Main Street, in Nevada, for a number of years. After Virgil's death, Ruby later married Calvin Clifford Emery. He also preceded her in death.

Ruby and Virgil were both members of the Nevada Coin and Stamp Club for many years and enjoyed fishing at Grand Lake in Grove, Okla.

Ruby and Calvin enjoyed traveling and were fortunate to have taken several cruises and trips throughout the United States during their time together.

Ruby also worked for a time at Marmiks, in Nevada, and was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church. Upon her "retirement," Ruby was a "pink" lady at Nevada City Hospital, was a hostess at Golden Corral, and also served as a receptionist at the Nevada Senior Center -- a job she loved. During the past few years she had resided at Culpepper Place where she enjoyed the various activities and rides in the country each Tuesday.

Survivors include her sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Thomas Pyle, of Nevada; though never blessed with children, she was loved dearly by her niece, Kathy Burkhardt, of Plant city, Fla., who she always thought of as a daughter; two great-nieces, Jennifer Holt, of Orlando, Fla., and Jamie Casca and husband, Alando, of Clearwater, Fla.; a great-nephew, Jeffrey Holt and his wife, Tanya, of Plant City, Fla.; one great-great-niece, Gislaine Casca, of Clearwater, Fla.; sister-in-law, Melba Keppen and her daughter, Leah Beth Keppen; and also of special mention is her dear friend, Judy Dahmer. Aside from her husbands, Virgil and Calvin, Ruby was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Glenn Boughton.

Funeral services for Ruby Etta Emery are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 2, at the Ferry Funeral Home, with Elder Tom Pyle officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, in Nevada.

Contributions may be made in Ruby's memory to the Nevada Senior Center in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
