Charles Ernest Hagan, 82, Nevada, Mo., passed away Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, at Medicalodge, in Nevada. Charles was born June 25, 1932, in Excelsior Springs, Mo., to Ernest Everett Hagan and Jessie Maxine (Lucas) Hagan. He was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Rosemary Lou Rowland, on Sept. 27, 1952, in Nevada, and she survives of the home.

While growing up, Charles and his family lived in Excelsior Springs and for a time in New Jersey before moving to the Rinehart area in 1940. There Charles attended Metz High School, graduating in the Class of 1950. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea and then later also served in the National Guard before moving back to Metz. Charles worked in Metz as a mechanic for a while and at a couple of other businesses. After purchasing Subway Garage in Nevada, he later moved to Nevada in 1985, and continued to run it for about 40 years before selling it in April of 2014. Charles was known as someone who worked all the time. He was also a member of the VFW in Nevada.

In addition to his wife, Rosemary, survivors include one niece, Carole Ann Nation, of Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Joanne Adams.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada. A private interment will follow at a later date. Friends may call now and until the hour of visitation at Ferry Funeral Home.
