The Northeast Vernon County High School Future Farmers of America members participated in several summer activities, gained experience in teamwork, communication and leadership skills, and earned funds for their chapter.

Members attended a paintball trip to Paintball Ridge in Joplin on May 31, where they learned teamwork and communication skills, while competing with other groups.

Members operated two fundraisers during the summer, including the Walker Alumni Dinner and an ice cream stand at Wilbur's Fireworks. At the Walker Alumni Dinner on June 17, FFA officers and members served dinner to the alumni of Walker High School. During Wilbur's Fireworks' show, FFA members sold ice cream to attendees of the fireworks event. At both events, members met many community members and worked hard to earn funds, which will support the FFA Chapter activities in the upcoming months.

In the month of July, FFA members first attended the Vernon County Youth Fair in Nevada from July 5 to July 12. Repair and maintenance for the fairgrounds and buildings were completed prior to the beginning of the fair by 4-H and FFA members.

Members participated in the fairgrounds clean-up during the fair, building watch for 4-H and FFA projects, and worked in the Pop Shop as volunteers to serve community members and fair-goers. Several FFA members showed livestock including pigs, sheep, dairy cattle and beef cattle and received several awards and places.

On July 17, NEVC FFA members attended an FFA float trip at Caplinger Mills in Stockton where they relaxed on a 5.5 mile float down the Sac River. Members enjoyed a lunch on the river, followed by swimming and time to mingle.
