Brandi McInroy will be the Republican challenger to incumbent Democrat Lynn Ewing in the November election for Vernon County Prosecutor.

McInroy was chosen by the Republican Party Committee as a replacement candidate after Circuit Judge Timothy Perigo ruled that the previous challenger, Dustin Dunfield, be disqualified as a candidate for the position based on a prior felony case.

McInroy said Friday that while "this was not how I would have planned it, it's been my goal to run for prosecuting attorney."

McInroy said she was still formulating her campaign plans but expected to attend as many community events and meet as many people as possible between now and election day.

"I would be honored to serve the people of Vernon County as their prosecutor."

McInroy began the pursuit of her law career with her undergraduate work at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kan. She graduated with a degree in Justice Studies and a minor in Sociology.

She graduated from the University of Missouri School of Law in 2005.

During her graduate work, she interned at the Public Defender's Office in Vernon County.

After passing the bar, McInroy was hired in the Public Defender's Office in Vernon County in March 2006, where she worked through 2012 focusing on criminal law.

Since Jan. 1, 2013, she has worked for the 28th Circuit Court in Vernon County as the attorney for the Juvenile Office.
