The Osage Prairie YMCA Tridents competed in their first meet of the season, coming at the Springfield Pentathlon YMCA Swim Meet Oct. 4 at Foster Natatorium.

Hosted by the Springfield Pat Jones YMCA, the 8 a.m. Saturday meet was five hours and featured six YMCA teams and 101 swimmers. Nevada sent three swimmers, led by assistant coach Jesse Claypool. The Tridents head coach is Abel Hagan.

Each swimmer had to swim five events to compete for the Pentathlon awards. Pentathlon scoring was used for an accumulation of race times. By adding all five race times, the place was then determined by the fastest total time.

The High Point Pentathlon Trophies were given to the top male and female in each age group.

In individual events, Cody Leung placed first in the male (9-10) 50 butterfly. He also placed second in that same age group in the 100 freestyle, 50 back stroke, and 50 breaststroke. He was fourth in the 50 freestyle.

That gave him an overall first place to earn the high point trophy in his age division.

Taking third in several events was Makayla Haner, coming in the girls' 13-14 age division in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, and 100 backstroke.

Peyton Claypool took fourth in the female 13-14 50 freestyle and fifth in the 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.
