Edward Archie Robinson Jr.

Edward Archie Robinson Jr., 49, of Nevada, Mo., passed from this life Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014, at Freeman Hospital, in Joplin. He was born June 17, 1965, in Fontana, Calif., the son of Edward Archie Robinson and Sandra Lee Brown. On July 1, 1983, he was united in marriage to Kimberly Jane Stephenson and she survives of the home.

Ed grew up in California where he attended school. He met and married Kimberly after the two had been introduced by her sister. Ed enjoyed several business ventures during his life. He worked in the retail gun sales business for Kim's father in the beginning, then owned a welding business with a partner. For a time he owned a video store and he also was employed with H&R Block, before beginning his own bookkeeping and tax business with his mother. After many years in California, the family was looking for a change and a possible move to a smaller town. They relocated to Nevada about nine years ago and had owned EMS Guns and Ammo since then.

His hobbies included a love of fishing, bowling, shooting, gun shows, the LA Lakers, and the 49ers, but his greatest love was visiting and getting to know people -- he had especially enjoyed that as of late while attending gun shows. He had a special spot in his heart for his dog, Kobe. He was famous for his holiday parties, and his cooking and baking. He cooked for his entire local family at least once each week.

Aside from his wife, Kim, survivors include his children, Edward Archie Robinson III, Mitchell Ryan Robinson, and Samantha Jane Robinson, all of Nevada; his parents, mother and stepfather, Sandra and Charles Horvath, of Nevada; father and stepmother, Edward and Patsy Robinson, of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; stepsiblings, Stephen D. Horvath, Karen Renee Horvath, Rodney Borden, Debbie Bosch, and Randy Borden; mother-in-law, Delores Stephenson; and brother-in-law, Steve Stephenson and wife, Danielle, and their family. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Herman and Mildred Brown, Everett and Lois Robinson, and Julius and Ruby Horvath; and his father-in-law, Arthur Stephenson.

A memorial service for Edward Archie Robinson Jr. is scheduled for 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 18, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, in Nevada, Mo. A rosary service will be held at 6 p.m., Monday, at the church.

Contributions may be made in his memory to Barnes Hospital, in St. Louis, Mo., in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
