Michael B. Hancock Sr.

Michael B. Hancock Sr., 59, Nevada, Mo., passed from this life on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014, at Freeman West, in Joplin, Mo., following a brief illness. Mike was born on Sept. 16, 1955, in Kansas City, Mo., to Donald M. and Frances L. (Adams) Hancock.

Mike was raised in Vernon County and attended Walker High School. He was a truck driver and mechanic for Cartwright's in Kansas City for several years and then later he started his own business, Mike's Tire Service, in Nevada, which he owned and operated for 15 years. He was baptized into the RLDS Church.

Survivors include his children, Michael Hancock Jr. and his wife, Adrienne, Nevada, and April Hancock, Nevada; grandchildren, Brandon Hancock, Axl Stone, and Skye Stone; parents, Donald and Frances Hancock, Nevada; sisters, Janet Mathis and her husband, Matt, Blue Springs, Mo., Joyce Spratt and her husband, Cris, Milo, and Debbie Nickerson and her husband, James, Milo; brothers, Donald L. Hancock and his wife, Crystal, Walker, and Dennis Hancock and his wife, Patricia, Nevada; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 22, at Marvin Chapel Cemetery, with Elder Gary Hancock officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m., Friday, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada.
