The holiday season is in full swing as Cottey College prepares for the Hanging of the Greens celebrations.

This three-part festivity includes an informal Christmas Choir concert Thursday, Dec. 4, at 5:30 p.m., in Raney Dining Room; the Hanging of the Greens Friday, Dec. 5, beginning at 7:30 p.m., in the Chapel; and the Hanging of the Greens semi-formal dance Saturday, Dec. 6, from 9-12 p.m., in Hinkhouse Center.

The informal Christmas choir concert will feature the Cottey Chamber Singers. The choir concert will have an appealing mix of classic and contemporary Christmas tunes. As an addition to the choir concert, the audience will be encouraged to sing along to everyone's favorite Christmas songs.

The Hanging of the Greens is one of Cottey's oldest and most special traditions. This celebration consists of a candlelight chapel service followed by the participants caroling and decorating the campus with handmade evergreen wreaths. The chapel service is free and everyone is invited to participate in the caroling.

The following evening the final event of Hanging of the Greens will take place. This semi-formal dance is sponsored by InterSociety and features a theme to complement the week's activities and showcases a variety of music. A $3 admission fee is charged at the door for the dance.

Raney Dining Room is on the lower level of Robertson Hall on the southeast corner of Austin and Tower streets. The Cottey College Chapel is located on the south side of Austin Boulevard between Reeves Hall and Robertson Hall. Hinkhouse is one block south of Austin Boulevard behind the Chapel. Parking is available in the lot off of Tower Street.
