Jewell Maxine Fox

Jewell Maxine Fox, 85, of Nevada, passed away on Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, at Nevada Nursing and Rehab, following a short illness. Maxine was born on March 11, 1929, in Schell City, Mo., to Cecil Losey and Theresa Jewel (Dennis) Losey. She married Casselle "Bolder" Fox on Jan. 28, 1946, in Fort Scott, Kan., and he preceded her in death in 1988.

Maxine was raised in the Schell City area and graduated from Schell City High School in 1945. She worked as a dietitian at the Nevada State Hospital for 29 years, until her retirement in 1991. She loved gardening and sewing and mending clothes for her family.

Survivors include her three daughters, Janice Couchman and her husband, Jim, of Medford Okla., Ronda Hardin and her husband, Jim, of Nevada, and Casseille Gammon and her husband, Stanton, of Walker; five grandchildren, Janiel Pace, Kansas City, Mo., Dwayne Hardin, Nevada, Randy Gammon, Nevada, Traci Cliffman, Nevada, and Jamie Anderson, Trenton, Mo.; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Murl Losey.

Graveside services for Maxine were held at 10 a.m., Monday, Dec. 1, at Green Mound Cemetery, Harwood, Mo., with Tim Brewer officiating. Friends may call now until one hour prior to the service and the family received friends from 5 to 6 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 30, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

Contributions may be made in her memory to Vernon County Cancer Relief or Walker Christian Church Building Fund in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
