Betty Lucille Horn

Betty Lucille Horn, 84, Walker, Mo., passed away at her home on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014. Lucille was born on Aug. 26, 1930, in Walker, to Walter A. and Verda (Loyd) Sands. She was married on Sept. 9, 1951, in Huntsville, Ark., to Richard L. Horn and he survives of the home.

Lucille graduated from Walker High School in 1948 and was employed by Flory's Pharmacy, in Nevada, following high school. She then went to work for AT&T, in Kansas City, Mo., as a telephone operator where she worked for a number of years before beginning a career in retail sales, working at several locations in the Kansas City area.

Lucille was a member of the former Walker Methodist Church, TOPS club in Nevada, and a past member of the Coal Creek Helping Hands. She enjoyed canning and was known as a wonderful cook. Lucille will be greatly missed by her family.

Survivors in addition to her husband, Richard, include three children, Robert Horn, St. Petersburg, Fla., Paula Sowell and her husband, Gary, of Lenexa, Kan., and Michael Horn, Walker; seven grandchildren, Robert Horn, Jackie Wilson, Alexandra Sowell, Hannah Horn, Zach Horn, Lucillia Horn, and Victoria Horn; two great-grandchildren, Madalyn and Molly; sister, Wilma Whorton, Huntsville, Ark.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., today, Dec. 2, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada. A private committal service will follow at Newton Burial Park, Nevada. The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m., prior to the service.
