Wilma Earlene Vandenburg

Wilma Earlene Vandenburg, 72, Nevada, Mo., formerly of Metz, passed from this life on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, at her home, in Nevada, surrounded by family, following a brief illness. Wilma was born on Nov. 8, 1942, in El Dorado, Kan., to Theodore Roosevelt Knouf and Lola Mae (Cartmell) Knouf. She was united in marriage to George E. Vandenburg on May 6, 1958, in Nevada, and he survives.

Wilma grew up in El Dorado, Kan., before coming to this area, living for a time in Walker, Mo. She was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her family, babysitting for family and friends, but she especially loved being with her grandchildren. Wilma was a member of the Deerfield Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, George, survivors include two sons, David Vandenburg and his wife, Laurie, El Dorado Springs, Mo., and Mike Vandenburg and his wife, Cindy, Nevada; three daughters, Malinda Ast and her husband, Daryl, Nevada, Rita Jacks and her husband, Greg, Richards, Mo., and Vicky Bouchard and her husband, Michael, Manassas, Va.; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Debbi Beerman, Nevada. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, George "Jay" Knouf.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Dec. 15, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery, Nevada. The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m., Sunday, at Ferry Funeral Home.
