The Nevada Police Department held its fourth annual Shop with a Cop event Saturday, providing children of the community an opportunity to pick out gifts for family members and themselves.

Because of donations from the community, the department was able to provide nine children with about $200 for gifts. Each child partnered with a police officer as they made their way through Wal-Mart in search of items on their lists.

The police department and other sponsors provided breakfast and lunch as well as games and photos with Santa Claus. Volunteers from Heartland Behavioral Health Services helped the children and officers find the presents and those volunteers and others from city departments and a local girl scout troop helped wrap them.
