Carmen Jean Pettibon

Carmen Jean Pettibon, 69, Nevada, Mo., passed from this life on Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, at her home in Nevada, following a lengthy illness. Carmen was born April 12, 1945, in Wichita, Kan., to Ivan L. Tillery and Velma B. (Hoover) Tillery. She was united in marriage to Jack M. Pettibon on Sept. 4, 1966, in Nevada, Mo., and he survives of the home.

Carmen was raised in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School with the Class of 1963. She worked as a nurse for more than 25 years with 15 years spent at the Nevada State Hospital. Most of her adult life was lived in Nevada. Carmen grew up attending the Pine Street Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, Jack, survivors include her children, Troy Pettibon and his wife, Chrysta, Lemoore, Calif., and Tonya Pettibon, Indianapolis, Ind.; three grandchildren, Joshua McKee, Macy Pettibon, and Kelly Pettibon; three brothers, Ralph Tillery, Campbell, Texas, Martin Tillery, Vesper, Wyo., and Byron Tillery, Fort Scott, Kan.; two sisters, Barbara Bobbett, Ozark, Mo., and Elaine David, Kissee Mills, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Laura Garrison; and an infant son, Neil.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 16, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada. Interment will follow in Deerfield Cemetery, Deerfield, Mo. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at Ferry Funeral Home.
