Bronaugh teams split in Thursday night action

Bronaugh's basketball teams split with McAuley Catholic Thursday night on the road, with the girls rolling 64-33 and the boys falling 67-46.

In the girls' game, the Wildcats improved to 12-5, dominating in convincing fashion.

The visitors opened a 14-9 lead at the first break and expanded that with a 20-7 difference in the second period for a 34-16 halftime advantage.

They continued strong in the third quarter with an 18-12 margin for a 52-28 lead with eight minutes remaining. They finished with a 12-5 edge in that frame.

Martell Moore fired in 20 points to pace the winners. Amanda Raper added 14 and Taylor Stratford 13, with Heather Baker chipping in nine, Mandy Murphy five, Katey Rider two and Becca Schnedler one.

In the boys' game, Bronaugh led 19-15 in the first eight minutes behind a strong shooting performance.

The Wildcats were outscored 15-8 in the second period but trailed just 30-27 at halftime.

But they never could get going in the final half, getting outscored 16-9 in the third and 21-10 in the fourth.

Justin Hudson led Bronaugh with 18. Tyler Strunk added 10, Brice Whitworth six, Reece Mader five, Gabe McIntire three and Cole Diggins and Norman Parker two apiece.
