Tiger tennis team beats Smith-Cotton

SEDALIA ---- The Nevada Tigers picked up their second West Central Conference tennis victory, defeating Sedalia Smith-Cotton 5-4, Tuesday.

Singles matches

* Nevada's No. 1 Skyler Laning, was beat by David Cho 8-1.

* Nevada's No. 2 Jordan Sheehy doubled up Jacob Hendrick 8-4.

* Tigers No. 3 Nathan McCall was edged by Carter LaPine 9-8 (7-4 tiebreaker).

* At No. 4 for Nevada, Brodrick Mason defeated Blake Potts 8-6.

* Nevada's No. 5 Thadius Mason carved up Jacob Carver 8-3.

While Nevada's No. 6, freshman Jace Lanham was shut out 8-0 by Matthew Tilley.

Doubles matches

* Nevada's No. 1 duo of Laning and Sheehy, triumphed over Cho and Hendrick 8-6.

* The Tigers tandem of Mason and Mason fell to LaPine and Potts 9-7.

* McCall and Lanham slipped past Carver and Tilley 9-7.

Junior varsity

Nevada's Eduardo Soria extended his junior varsity winning streak, by picking up four victories against Smith-Cotton junior varsity players, as he remains undefeated in JV competition. In addition, Nevada's doubles team of Sheel Patel and Cody Miller picked up three junior varsity doubles victories.

Rain out

Nevada's scheduled Tuesday road match against Clinton was rained out. The Tigers next travel to Warrensburg, for the West Central Conference tournament, Friday.
