Bushwhacker Days coming June 10-13

The Nevada/Vernon County Bushwhacker Days Committee is hosting the 51st Annual Bushwhacker Days Festival June 10 through June 13.

The festival starts Wednesday evening with a cake and ice cream social and cookout, followed by Gospel Night featuring David Phelps from Nashville.

There will also be a Pride Amusement Carnival with armbands every night.

Thursday night will be Bushwhacker Days BBQ, and for Thursday night entertainment, there will be a Lip Sync Contest, followed by "Local Legends" with several local bands and singers.

The Lip Sync Contest will offer first and second place prizes for 12 and under, 13-18, and ages 18 and over. Auditions will take place May 26 in the NHS choir room from 5 to 8 p.m.

The Friday night concert features Carl Acuff Jr. and Jeanine Kendall from the Kendall Sisters. There will also be a Street Fair with booths and vendors that starts on Friday night and runs until Saturday night.

Saturday has events ranging from baby shows, car, motorcycle and tractor shows, Civil War re-enactors, a Living History Lane, the annual parade and many other events.

Saturday night's main entertainment is Nashville recording artist and CMA performers Larry Gatlin and The Gatlin Brothers 60th Anniversary Tour.
