Rose "Marlene" (Attebery) Greer

Rose Marlene Greer, 79, of Milo, Mo., passed from this life Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at the Moore-Few Care Center, in Nevada. She was born Sept. 13, 1935, the daughter of Vaughn Eldred and Lyda Mildred (Baker) Attebery, in Butler. On Dec. 21, 1956, she was united in marriage to and became the loving wife of Willard Dean Greer for more than 58 years and he survives of the home.

Marlene was a 1953 graduate of Nevada High School. She deeply loved the Lord and was a longtime member of the Nevada Church of Christ. She worked as secretary of Benton Elementary School early in their marriage. Once the couple was blessed with children, Marlene was able to be a stay-at-home wife and mother. She spent many busy years running her four children to church, 4-H, school, FFA and athletic activities. When the children were grown, Marlene enjoyed approximately 25 years at May's Floral answering the phone and visiting with all the customers.

She also enjoyed selling Avon and helping friends and family sell items on the KNEM/KNMO Trader Program. Marlene was always on the hunt for a good yard sale. Her favorite times, though, were those spent with family and friends. She loved being a mother and grandmother! She was crazy about each and every child, grandchild, and great grandchild. She loved holiday and family birthday get-togethers. Marlene loved sending cards to others.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents and two grandsons, Taylor Odell Greer and Justin Adam Dale Cash. Aside from her loving husband, survivors include their four children, Jeff Greer and wife, Kathy, Jimmy Greer and wife, Melissa, and Joann Cash, all of Nevada, and Jane Westerhold and husband, Denver, of Rich Hill; 11 grandchildren, Matthew Cash and wife, Alison, of Springfield, Michael Cash and wife, Chelsie, of Nevada, Tyler Greer and Kelsey Caldwell of Milo, Tanner Greer of Springfield, Aaron Greer and wife, Katlyn, of Milo, Austin Greer and Taylor Nelson of Milo, AJ Greer of Nevada, Benjamin Greer of Nevada, Tyson Majors and Amy Morrow of Butler, and Megan and Michelle Westerhold of Rich Hill; two great-great-grandsons, Kenneth and Layne Greer of Milo; sister, Marjorie Gilmore and husband, Harold, of Nevada; and other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services for Rose Marlene Greer will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 22, at the Church of Christ just west of Nevada. Burial will follow in the Milo Cemetery in Milo, Mo. Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, May 21, at Ferry Funeral Home.
