Speeding and enforcement

Tuesday, June 23, 2015

Dear Editor

When can residents get a break?

I have lived here most of my life. The Nevada police are always running radar somewhere in town.

Has anyone noticed how fast semis go through town on 54 Highway. Where are the radar guns?

I can tell you -- North Ash, around the school, east Austin, South Washington St., South Ash just to name a few.

Seems like we are ticketing local people only. And what happened to maybe getting a warning instead of a ticket? They run your license and know your driving record.

Let's give the hometown person a break if they have a good driving record.

Drive to any town within 50 miles of Nevada and see how many radar traps you see. I would say very few.

Let's be sensible about speeding. Give a guy a warning. If that doesn't work, then if you stop him again, he should get a ticket.

I'm not against the Nevada police and I'm not for speeding, but I am for common sense.
