The Nevada City Council was planning to consider a bill setting the city's personal and real property tax rates for 2015 at its Tuesday night meeting. That did not happen because the state of Missouri did not get the rates posted before Tuesday's council meeting leaving the council to vote 5-0 to table the measure until the information from the state is available.

In other business the council:

* Voted 5-0 to accept the bid of $23,800 from Layne Christensen Company to disinfect the two deep wells used to supply water to the reverse osmosis treatment system. According to information from the city in "2014, Water System Engineering was hired to do a complete well profile of each deep well because of operational issues." The results of these test showed there was a high potential for biofouling because of the sulfur content of the water. Attracts the thiothrix organism, which in conjunction with the sulfur causes the formation of slime and a biofilm, which cause a prefilter to the reverse osmosis system to plug up.

Eric McPeak, Alliance local manager, said this will be the first time the procedure will be done, even though it is recommended to be done every five years.

* Voted 5-0, to pass on second reading a special ordinance vacating the remainder of Galbraith Street, which is located off of West Austin between Webster and Prewitt streets and has never been constructed. In 1931 30 feet of the 50-foot wide Galbraith Street was vacated and this will complete the process and will allow parking behind Cash N Dash.

* Voted 5-0, to adopt Resolution No. 1437 approving Capri Bowl Family Fun Center to sell malt liquor in excess of 3.2 percent alcohol by weight and not in excess of 5 percent or light wines not in excess of 14 percent alcohol by weight by the drink for consumption on the premises between Aug. 5 and July 31, 2016.
