Kennon R. Shaw Sr., of Bronaugh, Mo., departed this life on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015 in Nevada, Mo. Kennon was born March 14, 1936 in Bronaugh, Mo., the son of Boyd Kennon and Wynona (Feller) Shaw.

Kennon graduated from Bronaugh High School, Class of 1954. He farmed his entire life and was a custom hay-baler for nine months of the year. He married Carolyn Joan Jurdan on June 14, 1956 in Independence, Mo., and she preceded him in death on Feb. 4, 2010. He later married Jane Frankmore, October 9, 2010 in La Junta, CO. Kennon worked for the Vendo Company in Kansas City for several years before moving to Coffeyville, Kan., and working for Scottsman Trailers. He then moved back to Bronaugh, where he worked for Armitage in Nevada and later for Thorpes Appliance.

For a time, Kennon owned and operated Shaw Plumbing, Heating and Air before being hired on as a supervisor at Crane Plumbing when they first opened in Nevada. When the Nevada Regional Technical School began operation, Kennon was asked to be the Heat and Air instructor. He loved teaching and continued to teach for about 25 years.

Kennon was Vernon County commissioner for about six years before retiring two years ago. He served on the Board of the Neal Center, and was President of the Bronaugh Volunteer Fire Department Board for many years. He was a longtime member and Elder of the Community of Christ Church. Recently he has been a member of the Christian Church of Liberal.

Kennon was a family man who loved his family and was very proud of his children. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When time allowed, Kennon loved traveling, and was known to be a great story teller.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Joan, a step-daughter, Kathy Aikin, and a brother, Boyd Radean Shaw.

In addition to his wife Jane of the home, he is survived by his children, a son, Kennon R. Shaw Jr. (Patricia), Bronaugh, a daughter, Melodie Dawn Davis (Michael), Nevada; a son, Loren Todd Shaw (Gail), Bronaugh; a daughter, Jenifer Vanardo, Columbia, Mo.; a daughter, Sara Elizabeth Heady (Tyler) Greenville, S.C.; a step-son, David M. Frankmore (Shelby) Pueblo, Colo., a step-son, Steven D. Frankmore (Shawna) La Junta, Colo.; a step-daughter, Susan A. Frankmore,(Johnny) La Junta, Colo.; 15 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Sharon Garrison, Olatha, Kan., Shirley Farran (Mike) Nevada, Saundra Bogart (Harry) Bronaugh; many extended family and special friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 24, 2015 at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Ron Bogart officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Worsley Cemetery, Bronaugh.
