Richard Ray McCrery, 80, Nevada, Mo., departed this life on Saturday, Sept. 12, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, in Nevada, following a brief illness. Richard was born Feb. 21, 1935, in Lamar, Mo., to Claud L. and Eunice May (Hulse) MrCrery. He was united in marriage to Nancy F. Buckles on Feb. 12, 1975, in Joplin, Mo., and she survives of the home.

Richard attended school in Walker and graduated from Walker High School with the Class of 1953. He then served his country in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960, where he was stationed in Germany. Richard worked for MK&T (KATY) Railroad for 34 years and then for MN&A Railroad for an additional four years. He also farmed and raised livestock all of his life. His many memberships included being a longtime member of the Walker Masonic Lodge No. 605, a current member of Osage Masonic Lodge No. 303, BPO Elks No. 564, St. Graal Commandry, Central Council R&SM, Order of the Easter Star (OES), and Shriners. He was also a member of the First Christian Church.

In addition to his wife, Nancy, survivors include his children, Crystal Bearce, Nevada, and Eric McCrery and his wife, Heather, Nevada; one brother, Marvin McCrery and his wife, Patty, Jerico Springs, Mo.; one sister, Virginia Moore, Nevada; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with the Rev. Jerod Lamb officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home with Masonic Rites at 6 p.m.
