Etta Frances McGinnis

Etta Frances McGinnis, 97, of Nevada, passed away on Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, at Moore-Few Care Center, in Nevada. Etta was born on Sept. 16, 1918, in Walker, Mo., to Earnest J. and Florence (McGee) Vaughan. On Jan. 30, 1937, she was united in marriage to James W. McGinnis and he preceded her in death in 1993.

Etta was raised in Walker and graduated from Walker High School in 1936. In her younger years, Etta worked for the Hartzfeld Department Store and later for Lee Garment while living in Kansas City. She later came back to Nevada, where she worked for Key Work Clothes, The Tent Factory and retired from the Village Market Bakery. Etta did alterations for Star Cleaners and also in her home. Etta enjoyed reading, playing bingo, crocheting, sewing, and watching sports on TV.

Etta is survived by two daughters, Darlene Tweten and her husband, Chester, of Nevada, and Dorothy Stukey and her husband, Larry, of Littleton, Colo.; one son, Gary McGinnis, of Harper, Kan.; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 23, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, in Nevada, with Pastor Chris Deines officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call until 8 p.m., today, at Ferry Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Youth Group in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
