Nevada Elks participate in deer hide program

Friday, October 23, 2015

Nevada Elks is once again participating in the deer hide program with the opening of bow hunting season.

There will be a pallet on the east side of the lodge near the south side of the back deck.

According to the lodge, "You can put your hide in a trash bag and drop it near the pallet and I will take care of it," said John Spencer, deer hide chairman.

"The hides are used to make gloves for disabled veterans and are given to them at no cost. If you have your deer processed at a commercial business, just ask them to save the hide for you.

"If you have a trophy buck, ask the taxidermist to save the left over portion of the hide for you.

"A partial hide counts the same as a full hide. The Missouri Elks have been the largest contributor in the nation for the last several years and we need to keep making that happen.

"Elks Care, Elks Share so please help with this very worthy cause."
