Pippen, Haverstic, Lockhart, qualify for state CC meet

With excellent performances at the recent Class 3 District 7 cross country meet in Grain Valley, Nevada High School cross county runners Patience Lockhart (left), Virginia Haverstic (center), and Amara Pippen (right) qualified for the Class 3 state cross country meet this weekend in Jefferson City. Additionally, all three medaled in Grain Valley. District results for 5K: Lockhart, 21:24; Pippen, 13th place, 21:36; and Haverstic, 15th place, 21:58. For the NHS boys in the 5K, Luke Sudkamp recorded a time of 20:28, good for the 35th place; Devin McHugh, 20:48, 39th place; and Trent Ellis, 21:01, 42nd place. (Submitted photo)
