Lillia Bertice (Houdeshell) Bogart

Lillia Bertice (Houdeshell) Bogart, 91, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, in Nevada. Lillia was born on Oct. 11, 1924, in Hiattville, Kan., to Ralph Paul and Gladys Francis (Henning) Houdeshell.

Lillia attended Sheldon High School and graduated with the Class of 1943. Following high school Lillia attended Southwest Missouri State Teachers College in Springfield, Mo., now known as Missouri State University. She then began teaching at Wild Rose, a one-room school. On Aug. 21, 1944, after his return from World War II, Lillia married Harold H. (Pete) Bogart. They were married for 34 years before he preceded her in death on Nov. 13, 1978. After their marriage they lived in Denver, Colo., until Harold's discharge from the Army Air Corp. They then returned to Vernon County to farm. In 1951 they moved to Pleasant Valley, Mo., and raised their growing family. In 1974, they moved to their farm near Bronaugh where she continued to live until 2004, when she moved to Kearney, Mo. In September 2014 she returned to Nevada and Vernon County to live out her life.

Lilia is survived by her four children, Kathy Heitmann, Kansas City, Mo., Diane Springer and her husband, Jim, Kansas City, Mo., Keith Bogart and his wife, Patty, Nevada, and Linda Schaefer and her husband, Steve, Kansas City, Mo.; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Daniel Ralph (Jr.) Houdeshell and his wife, Betty, Nevada, Anna Maude Bogart, Sheldon, Mae Lamb, Nevada, Ruby Wright and her husband, Charles, Sheldon, Pauline Stansill, Sheldon, Patricia Schwartz, Nevada, Ellen Brooks and her husband, Mike, Milo, Dinah Smith and her husband, Charlie, Nevada, Sarah Underwood and her husband, Ralph, Nevada, Jim Houdeshell, Nevada, Wanda Watts and her husband, Richard, Nevada, and Raymond Houdeshell, Nevada; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Robert, Lloyd and Lee; two sisters, Lenora McElwee and Viola Chancellor; and a granddaughter, Stephanie Schaefer.

Funeral services will be held at noon, Monday, Nov. 23, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada. Interment will follow in Sheldon Cemetery, Sheldon, Mo. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon, Monday, prior to the service.
