Judith Rae Potter, 83, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Jan. 9, 2016, at Moore-Few Care Center, in Nevada. Judith was born Jan. 15, 1932, in Syracuse, Kan., to Lewis Junior and Mary Mae (Shelton) Henderson. On Aug. 20, 1950, she was united in marriage to Everett Oden Potter in Eureka, Kan., and he preceded her in death on Dec. 10, 1998.

Judith grew up in Kansas and moved to Sheldon at the age of 17. She attended Sheldon High School graduating with the Class of 1950. Judith worked for Nevada R-5 schools for 15 years as a cook. She then worked for a time at Gibson Discount Store in Nevada before beginning employment at Wal-Mart. Judith retired from Wal-Mart in 1993 having also worked there for 15 years. In 1994, she and Oden moved to Table Rock Lake where she resided until 2001. Judith was a longtime member of the First Christian Church, in Nevada. She was also a member of Widows Support Group.

Survivors include her two sons, Larry Potter and Bev Baker, Nevada, and Terry Potter and Ruth Lewis, St. Louis; three grandchildren, Jennifer Potter and her husband, Stephen, Baltimore, Md., Sarah Clay and her husband, Mike, Webster Groves, Mo., and Matthew Oden Potter, St. Louis; three stepgrandsons, Brian Conway, Pittsburg, Kan., Josh Conway, Bentonville, Ark., and Kevin Conway, Bentonville, Ark.; three great-grandchildren, Penelope Davis, Beckett Davis, and Ava Clay; one brother-in-law, Norval Potter and his wife, Virginia, Springfield, Mo.; one sister-in-law, Darlene Hiebert and her husband, Raymond, Sheldon; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oden; and one son, Jerry Potter.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 14, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada. Interment will follow in Sheldon Cemetery, Sheldon. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Vernon County Cancer Relief in care of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
