Nevada has solid showing at Monett Invitational
The Nevada High School wrestling team competed at the Monett Invitational Jan. 9, with Nevada's Dayton Miller locking up first-place in the 126-pound weight-class. In addition, Nevada's Scott Swink, Chaden Brandt, and Trey Pritchett finished runner-up in their respective weight classes.
NHS results
* 113 pound class: Nevada's Caylee Crews was defeated in the seventh-place match by Clinton's Gonzalo Rivera, via fall. For the invite, Crews earned Nevada three team points.
* 120 pounds: Nevada's Clay Landoll lost by fall to Bentonville's Zane Sims in the seventh-place match. For the invite, Landoll earned Nevada three team points.
* 126 pounds: Nevada's Dayton Miller toppled Monett's Sean Jastal in the championship match. Miller won by fall and earned Nevada 41 total team points.
* 132 pounds: Nevada's Cristian Aguilar was beat in the seventh-place match via 9-7 decision by Bolivar's Seth Farr. Aguilar earned Nevada five team points at the invite.
* 138 pounds: Nevada's Colton Shrewsbury defeated Bolivar's Chase Hampton via 12-1 major decision in the third-place match. For the invite, Shrewsbury tallied Nevada 29 team points.
*145 pounds: Nevada's Coletan Shepard beat Bentonville's Nathan Desler via 7-3 decision in the third-place match. Shepard scored Nevada 25 team points.
* 160 pounds: Nevada's Jacob Hammontree fell to Bolivar's Brendan Roberts in the ninth-place match.
*182 pounds: Nevada's Chaden Brandt was defeated via injury default by Willard's Christian Smart in the championship match. Brandt scored Nevada 36 team points.
* 195 pounds: Nevada's Scott Swink was defeated via 16-6 major decision by Willard's Hunter Yeargan in the title match. Swink earned Nevada 26 team points.
* 220 pounds: Nevada's Trey Pritchett was beat via fall by Oak Groves Tyler Curd in the championship match. Pritchett scored Nevada 27 team points.
