Ardath Betts Dawes, 94, passed from this life Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016, in Overland Park, Kan. She was a former resident of Nevada, Mo., and lived the last several years in Overland Park. She was born Ardath June Betts to Halmer Earl Betts and Violet Charlotte Brandt Betts and Oct. 20, 1921, in Muskegon, Mich.

Ardath married Roy Wingrove Dawes on March 9, 1946, in Detroit, Mich. Of this 50-year union three daughters were born: Nancy Pamela Simmons and husband, James, of Cashion, Okla., Donna Lynn Jackson and husband, Marvin, of Cushing, Okla., and Lisa Dawes Stewart and husband, Bob, of Prairie Village, Kan.

She is survived by her daughters and grandchildren, Michelle Lynn Miller and Todd, of Cashion, Okla., Stacie Simmons Sperry and Stuart, of Arlington, Va., Bradley Jackson and Tami, of Stroud, Okla., Matthew Jackson of Stillwater, Okla., and Derek Brown and Natalie Brown, both of Kansas City, Mo. Also, great-grandchildren, Harley and Jackson Miller, Silas, Seth and Salem Sperry, Tommy Jackson, Noah, and Desmun and Dorian Jackson.

Ardath was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, on Nov 10, 1996; her parents; her brother, Douglas H. Betts; and two grandchildren, Colin Brown and William Jackson.

Visitation will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 6, with services at 2 p.m., at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, 301 S. Washington St., Nevada, Mo., with burial at Moore Cemetery, in Nevada.
