Sheldon responded in the bottom half of the inning, as Jade Huggins smacked a 3-run home run. After increasing its lead to 11-3, Jones stepped to the plate in the top of third inning, helping his own cause by launching a home run well over the center field fence, giving the Knights a 12-3 cushion. Sheldon's Kaleb Martin led off the bottom of the third with a double, and later came around to score when Huggins singled to left field, as Sheldon trailed 12-4. NEVC eventually pulled away for the 17-6, five-inning victory, improving to 2-0 overall. The Knights opened the season with an 18-1 home-victory over the Hume Hornets, as NEVC pitcher Jackson Coleman tossed five innings of one-hit ball.(Photo by Matthew Resnick/Daily Mail)
