Friday, March 25, 2016

According to a recent Nevada Griffons press release, the Griffons coaching staff for 2016 is set.

"Ryan Mansfield is returning to Nevada for his ninth year, his eighth as the team's head coach," the press release stated. "Mansfield is currently an assistant coach at MCC-Longview College in Lee's Summit. In addition to his head coaching responsibilities, Mansfield will take on the job of team General Manager.

"Long-time Griffons General Manager Jeff Post has stepped down from that position, but will remain a familiar face at Lyons Stadium. Post will continue as a member on the Griffons Board of Directors, serving as press box manager during the 2016 season.

"Two new assistant coaches will join the Griffons this year. Cody Gardner, originally from Gray Summit, Mo., will work with the team's pitchers this year. Gardner is currently an Assistant Coach at Missouri S&T. Gardner graduated from Truman State in Kirksville, where he pitched for the Bulldogs for four years.

"Zak Larkin rounds out the coaching staff. Larkin hails from Florissant, Mo. He is also a graduate of Truman State University, where he played infield and now serves as an assistant coach. Larkin will be working with the infielders and hitters for the Griffons, and will handle first base coaching responsibilities, as well."
