Dovie Viola Morey Errett died April 28, 2016, at the age of 95 years at Peterson Regional Memorial Hospital in Kerrville, Texas.

She was born Jan. 6, 1921, in Sutherland, Iowa, the daughter of the late Paul Alexander and late Dovie Nickson Morey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Wilson Errett, in 1984, and grandson, Michael Travis Errett, in 2012.

She is survived by a daughter, Carole Errett McCain, Ph.D. and son-in-law, Scott McCain, of Kerrville, Texas; son, Michael Paul Errett and daughter-in-law, Deborah Ann Errett, of Weatherford, Texas; grandchildren, Brent Allan Holcomb and his wife, Laura, Amanda Dae Neidhardt and husband, David, and Caitlin Elizabeth Errett and husband, Robert; stepson, Ben McCain and wife, Heather; stepdaughter, Erin McCain Townley and husband, Marc; and eight wonderful great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Wilda Jean Richards and husband, J.D. (Rich), and Pauline Thelma Vineyard; and many nieces and nephews.

She was a graduate of Nevada High School and Cottey College for Women, in Nevada, Mo. She also attended Tyler Junior College and the University of Texas at Tyler. Later in life she worked as a research survey specialist and was the catalog manager for Montgomery Wards in Tyler, Texas, for 21 years. She was a member of Pleasant Retreat Methodist Church, in Tyler, for more than 30 years where she taught first grade Sunday school.

Additionally, she was an honorary and past regent of Mary Tyler Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution; past president of Piney Woods Regents Council, DAR; and outstanding regent of Texas; she was an active member of P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter BO; charter member of Daughters of American Colonists, Matthew Talbot Chapter; charter member Sons and Daughters of the Colonial and Antebellum Bench and Bar; and officer of Camp Fannin Association and Camp Fannin Women's Auxiliary.

A memorial service will be held at Brookdale Plaza on the River, Independent Living Chapel, in Kerrville, Texas, on Wednesday, May 4, at 10 a.m., where she lived for the last seven years.

Graveside services will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tyler, Texas, at 2 p.m., on Saturday, May 7.
