Lucian "Junior" Dale Bond

Lucian "Junior" Dale Bond, 78, of Grain Valley, Mo., passed away May 6, 2016, at Kansas City Hospice House. Dale was born Dec. 17, 1937, in Nevada, Mo., to Lucian and Beulah Bond. He was the youngest of eight children and grew up on a farm south of Nevada, Mo.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Elton Bond and Elmon Bond; and sister, Wilma Reed. He is survived by Willard Bond, Thelma Alumbaugh, Marion Rains, and Fern Welch.

Following high school graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country as a 2nd Class Petty Officer in Key West, Fla. He retired from Unilever (Lipton) in 1998. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Oak Grove. Dale was an avid MU Tiger and KC Royals fan and loved ribbing his KU-loving son-in-law and grandsons. He enjoyed working in the yard, gardening and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Bond; children, Brad Bond, Debbie Phillips Hackett (Dennis), Shelly Phillips Barnett, Julie Phillips Seidler (Geoff); grandchildren, Dustin and Dylan Hackett, Kyle and Cody Barnett, Emma Seidler, Blake Bond, and Brady Ruks Bond; and nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, May 9, at Royer Funeral Home, in Grain Valley. Services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 10, at the funeral home followed by burial at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, at Higginsville. The family suggests memorial contributions to Kansas City Hospice House or Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
