Sheldon, NEVC toppled at districts

The Sheldon Panthers and Northeast Vernon County Knights were defeated in opening-round play of Missouri Class 1 district baseball tournaments, Saturday.

Sixth-seeded Sheldon fell to No. 5 seed Everton 9-4 in the Class 1 District 6 tournament in Lockwood. Sheldon concludes the season 2-10 overall.

The fourth-seeded Bronaugh Wildcats (2-6) are set to matchup against No. 2 seed Greenfield (13-9) at 6:30 Wednesday in Lockwood.

The third-seeded Knights, hosts of the Cass 1 District 13 tournament played in Walker, were defeated Saturday morning by sixth-seeded Ballard 5-2. With the loss, NEVC ends the season 4-7 overall.

The fourth-seeded Hume Hornets (2-8) are slated to square-off against No. 5 seed Kingsville (2-6) at 4:30 p.m., today in Walker.
