Gilbert Cage Harris, 51, Nevada, Mo., passed from this life on Thursday, May 26, 2016, at Medicalodge, in Nevada. Gilbert was born on July 5, 1964, in Artesia, N.M., to Gilbert Gene and Rhoda Celena (Wilkinson) Harris. He was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Weber on Dec. 23, 1985, in Nevada, and she survives of the home.

Gilbert attended school in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School in 1982. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Army and served from 1983 until 1986. He was stationed in Germany where he was the mechanical crew chief of the 82nd Airbourne and then later he spent time at Ft. Riley, Kan. Upon his return from the service he worked at Ortho-Flex Saddle Company, in Nevada.

He enjoyed fishing, helping people, the outdoors, riding horses, woodworking, and especially loved time spent with his family.

In addition to his wife, Patricia, survivors include one daughter, Courtney Dawn Robinson (Mike), Horton, Mo.; one granddaughter, Timber BreAnn Robinson; his parents; five sisters, Greta Russell (Dennis), El Paso, Texas, Shelly Chadd, Milo, Debbie Anders, Nevada, Donna Wagner (Max), Nevada, and Raye Sprague (Clint Swopes), Walker; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 1, at the Fort Scott National Cemetery with the Rev. Kay Zimmer officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada.
