Shania Lee Ashbaker, 20, of Sanderson, Texas, and Nevada, Mo., tragically died at her home in Sanderson, Texas. Shania was born April 8, 1996, in Milford, Utah, the daughter of Kevin Ashbaker and Kelly Castagnola. She graduated from Sanderson High School in 2014 where she lettered in track and basketball. She was also a school mascot.

Shania was a vibrant young woman who was always full of energy. Shania was a wonderful mother and always put her daughter, Savannah's needs above her own. Shania enjoyed listening to music, changing the color of her hair, and was known as being just a little bit stubborn. She was a hard worker, was all about family and was very close to her sister, Dakota. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Cody Mayer; maternal grandfather, Richard Castagnola; and paternal grandfather, Darwin Ashbaker. Shania is survived by her daughter of the home, Savannah; mother, Kelly Castagnola, of Nevada, Mo.; father, Kevin Ashbaker, Sanderson, Texas; two sisters, Taylor Willis, Milford, Utah, and Dakota Kaumans, El Dorado Springs; three brothers, Austin Mayer, Milford, Utah, Chevy Ashbaker, El Dorado Springs, and Jake Kaumans, El Dorado Springs; maternal grandmother, Beejay Ferguson (William), Arlington, Ky.; paternal grandmother, Sandra Bassett, Sanderson, Texas; and extended family and many special friends.

Memorial services will be held in the Ferry Funeral Home Chapel at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 30. Visitation with the family will be from 5 p.m., until service time. Memorials may be made in her name to the Ferry Funeral Home.
