NHS concludes regular-season with road victory

In its regular-season softball finale Wednesday evening in Carl Junction, the Nevada Lady Tigers earned an 8-1 victory over the Lady Bulldogs. NHS freshman Maggie Leisure earned the win, pitching all seven frames.

With the victory, Nevada improves to 8-15 overall.

District tournament

The Lady Tigers enter the upcoming Class 3 District 12 tournament as the No. 5 seed. NHS opens play Oct. 5 against fourth-seeded Aurora at Monett North Park. The first pitch is slated for 4 p.m.

If Nevada defeats Aurora, they will advance to face top-seeded Monett in the semifinals, Oct. 6 at 4 p.m. On the other side of the bracket, No. 3 East Newton is scheduled to play No. 6 seed Carl Junction, Oct. 5 at 6 p.m.. The winner moves on to face No. 2 seed Cassville, Oct. 6 a 6 p.m.

The championship game is set for Oct. 7 at 4:30 p.m.
