Tigers compete at Springfield Invitational

The Nevada Tigers swim team placed 12th at Saturday's 20-team Springfield Invitational, as Central High School (Cape Girardeau) captured first place.

The 200 Medley Relay A-team comprised of Thomas Prewitt, Jake Asberry, Grant Miller, and Cody Hansen placed 11th out of 28 entries, setting a time of 1:54.50. The B-team of Jack Niestrath, Kalen Morris, Tyler Armstrong, and Braden Russell shaved 13 seconds of its previous best time, clocking a 2:26.72

In the 200 Free, Armstrong and Niestrath set personal best times. Armstrong netted a time of 2:18.16 and Niestrath concluded with a time of 2:55.29, while senior Michael Henderson set a time of 2:49.26.

In the 200 IM, Miller also set a personal best time at 2:30.78. In the 50 Free, Asberry earned a podium finish at sixth-place out of 72 entries with a time of 22.79, Prewitt's time of 23.87 earned him 15th-place, while Hansen placed 37th with a time of 25.60.

In the 100 Free, Asberry placed 14th at 51.29; Prewitt 22nd with a time of 53.48; and Hansen 34th at 58.21. In the 500 Free, Russell set a time of 6:58.74. In the 200 Free Relay, the team of Asberry, Prewitt, Hansen, and Miller placed ninth out of 25 teams with a time of 1:37.15.

In the 100 Backstroke, Russell set a time of 1:15.06; Morris 1:18.02 and Niestrath ---- another personal best time at 1:32.86. In the 100 Breaststroke, Miller set a personal best time of 1:16.99.

In the 400 Free Relay, the team of Henderson, Russell, Armstrong, and Morris finished with a time of 4:35.23.
