Sheldon earns split with NEVC

WALKER ---- In Friday night Golden Valley Vernon County basketball action, the Sheldon Panthers defeated the Northeast Vernon County Knights 53-16, while the Lady Panthers fell to the Lady Knights 39-33.

In the boys' game, Sheldon stormed out of the gate, seizing control after opening the contest on a 22-2 run. The Panthers lead swelled to 40-4 at halftime, as they coasted to the 37-point victory.

"We played at our pace, attacking the basket, putting pressure on the ball and creating turnovers," Sheldon head coach Dusty Murray said. "We boxed out and rebounded well. We shared the ball, and these boys showed the type of sportsmanship that Sheldon wants to be known for. Our coaching staff was proud of that."

For Sheldon (3-2 overall, 2-1 GVVC), junior point guard Zavery Lamb finished with a game-high 10 points.
