Benjamin "Frosty" Harrison Capps, Jr.

Benjamin "Frosty" Harrison Capps, Jr., 83, Joplin, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 14, at his home. He was born May 17, 1933. He was the son of Benjamin Harrison Capps and Jessie (Adamson) Capps. He married Judith Ann (Pyle) Capps, in June 1958, and she survives of the home.

Frosty grew up in and around the Moundville area, helping his father and brothers work on the farm and sawmill. He attended Nevada High School, and served in the Army and National Guard. Frosty worked at various heating and plumbing jobs, and was owner of a garage in Moundville. In the 1960's Frosty built his own race cars and drove at the Nevada Speedway when the track first opened, and other area race tracks. The family moved to Joplin in 1970 and he worked for 25 years at General Steel until his retirement. He was a member of the Christ Community United Methodist Church in Joplin. Frosty always had a smile on his face and never knew a stranger.

Survivors in addition to his wife Judy include five daughters: Lisa Woods (Mike), Pittsburg, Kan., Tracy Dodson (Wes), Joplin, Donna Ackenhausen, Christina Bundy and Brenda Capps; grandchildren, Rebecca Moss (Sterling), Joplin, Elizabeth Henry, (Jeremy), Sulphur Springs, Ark., Ben Dodson (Janae) Clinton, Mo., Hannah Dodson, Joplin, Sarah Dodson, Joplin, Natalie McCloskey, Pittsburg, Kan., Andrea McCloskey, Pittsburg, Kan.; and one great-grandchild, Aiden Dodson; nieces and nephews, James L. Capps, Moundville, Sandra Kay Odom, Slidell, Miss., Connie Sue Capps, Moundville, and Roberta Ann Warren, Nevada; and numerous friends. Frosty was preceded in death by his parents, and five brothers, Ralph Capps, Willard "Butch" Capps, Clarence Capps, Harold Capps and Donald Leon Capps.
