Elizabeth "Beth" Brown age 90 of Nevada passed away on Friday, Jan. 13, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin following a brief illness. Beth was born March 11, 1926, in St. John, Kan., to Joseph and Pearl (Baker) Woodruff. On Aug. 24, 1946, she was married Jim Brown in Ft. Scott, and he survives of the home.

Beth was raised in Kansas and graduated from the Trousdale High School in Trousdale, Kan. After moving to Milo the couple moved to Nevada in 1951. She worked for Nelly Don Garment Factory for a number of years. Beth later became an LPN and worked at the Nevada City Hospital for 17 years until her retirement in 1990. Beth was a member of the First Christian Church in Nevada.

In addition to her husband, Jim, survivors include one son, Don Brown, of Nevada; daughter, Betty Sue Thorp and husband Charles, of Nevada; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Beth was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Richard Webster; and a sister, Minnie Roach.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 17, in the Ferry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Rorabaugh officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-7p.m. on Monday. Those who wish may contribute to a medical expense fund for Beth's great-granddaughter, Jenna Abbott in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
