Dawna Day Haynes

Dawna Day Haynes, 76, Belton, Mo., passed away on Monday, Jan. 23, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Mo. Dawna was born on Sept. 28, 1940, in Bronaugh, to Merle Hobert and Norma Day (Bright) Shearburn. She was united in marriage to David Eugene Haynes for 16 years and to this union two children were born.

Dawna graduated from Bronaugh High School Class of 1958 then moved to Kansas City to attend Beauty College. She worked as a data processor for Fleming Foods for 33 years before retiring. During that time she was a single parent to her children. Dawna was a very loving mother and grandmother who considered her family friends' children and grandchildren as her own family. She was nicknamed "Gom" and that is how she was known by all. Dawna enjoyed a career with Home Interior Design and was an avid reader and loved all types of games and puzzles. She was an artistic person with a great sense of humor and also loved all her pets. She was the matriarch of the family.

Survivors include her daughter, DeAna Haynes, Liberty, Mo.; son, Devin Haynes and his wife, Kayleen, Belton, Mo.; three grandchildren, Keely Haynes, Columbia, Mo., Dalton Haynes, Belton, and Renzee Haynes, Belton; many cousins, extended family, and friends -- especially friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Interment will follow in Worsley Cemetery, Bronaugh. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service at the funeral home.
