NMS splits with Carthage

Nevada Middle School's seventh and eighth-grade basketball squads were on the hardwood Monday night hosting Carthage.

The NMS eighth-grade A-Tigers improved to 7-0 overall after clobbering Carthage 43-17 at Nevada Middle School. The eighth-grade B-Tigers (4-3) followed suit, as they dealt Carthage a 34-26 defeat.

Leading the A-team was point guard Logan Applegate, who finished the evening with a game-high 15 points, while Logan McNeley added 14. The B-team was led by Trey Moore, who tallied 16 points while Ty Thomas chipped in eight.

The seventh-grade A-Tigers, playing at the Franklin P. Norman Community Center, fell to Carthage 61-20.

Nevada's Eli Cheaney recorded a team-high 10 points. The Tigers seventh-grade B-team (3-3) was beat 48-18 as Evan Rea dropped in 14 points.
