Beverly Glee Peterman

Beverly Glee Peterman, 80, Nevada, passed away on Friday, Feb. 17, at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada. Beverly was born July 22, 1936, in Kellerton, Iowa, the daughter of Glenn Franklin and Eula Catherine (Brockway) Bear. She married Charles L. Peterman on Jan. 1, 1954.

Beverly was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Daughters of Isabella, and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a long-standing member of TOPS and KOPS. She attended evening classes at Cottey College and Crowder College. Beverly was chosen as the 1976 Bushwhacker Queen. Her dress and accessories were made by her husband Charles, and are on display at the Bushwhacker Museum.

Beverly ran a daycare in her home for more than 35 years and volunteered at St. Mary's aftercare program and other related activities for the church and school. She was a Eucharistic Minister for the Sunday Masses and the homebound, and an instructor for the RCIA program.

Beverly was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Charles L. Peterman; her parents; two infant sons; three sisters, Shirley Chase, of Drexel, Mo., Karen Baker, of Roland, Iowa, and Betty Jo Long, of Mount Ayr, Iowa; one brother, Donald Bear, of Mount Ayr, Iowa; and her daughter-in-law, Jane Peterman, of Gautier, Miss. She is survived by her four children, Mark Peterman, of Gautier, Miss., Mary Ellen Scheib, of Grandview, Mo., Nancy Armstrong and her husband, Mark, of Aurora, Colo., and Glenn and his wife, Andrea, Peterman, of Overland Park, Kan.; brother, Ted Bear of Ellis, Iowa; sister, Jean Schriever, of Farmington, Minn.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, Feb. 19, from 6-7 p.m. at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. A Mass of Celebration will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 20, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Matthew Benjamin presiding. The Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Nevada. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund in her name.
