Ronald Gene Young, 83, Nevada, passed from this life on Sunday, Feb. 19, at Nevada Nursing and Rehab in Nevada. Gene was born May 10, 1933, in Nevada, to Orba and June Young.

Gene was raised in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict stationed in Germany. Gene founded Young Iron and Metal in Nevada in 1961 and continued working there until his retirement. He was an avid sportsman who loved hunting, and fishing. Gene was a member of the Pentecostal Church in Nevada, and also a member of the Elks Lodge in Nevada.

Survivors include his children Brian Gene Young and his wife, Angelina, San Diego, Calif., Rick Young, Nevada, Troy Young and his wife, Trudy, Nevada, Tracy Young and her husband, David Silva, of San Jose, Calif.; step-children, Tammy Miller, Christopher Miller, Ricky Graham, and Billie Jo Graham; grandchildren, Eric McDonough, Brian Young, Dakota Cheyenne Collins, Joe Young, Matt Holt, Amanda Prine, Dakota Young, Jakob Silva, Stephanie Kirkham, Alex Kirkham, and Cassidy Carlson; one sister, Gloria and her husband, LeRoy Wilson, Plano, Texas. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary, and Rosalie; and one brother, Johnny.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m.on Saturday, Feb. 25, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with the Rev. Dennis Engelbrecht officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service on Saturday. Memorials are suggested to the Vernon County Cancer Relief or AA in care of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
