Five county players make Class 1 All-District team
A quintet of Vernon County student-athletes were selected to the Class 1 District 6 All-District boys' basketball team. Those players are: Sheldon senior guard Kaleb Martin, Sheldon junior guard, Zavery Lamb; Bronaugh seniors Tyler Strunk and Joe Mader; and Hume senior Chris Aherns.
Second-seeded Sheldon won its first two district tournament contests before falling to Montrose 48-39 in the title game. Meanwhile, fourth-seeded Bronaugh was edged by top-seeded Montrose 43-42 in the tournament semifinals.
Montrose, led by star guard Gage Thompson, was defeated by No. 1 ranked Walnut Grove in Tuesday's Class 1 State Tournament sectional-round.

Selected to the team, were: Kaleb Martin, Sheldon; Zavery Lamb, Sheldon; Joe Mader, Bronaugh; Tyler Strunk, Bronaugh; Chris Aherns, Hume; Gage Thompson, Montrose; Clayton Steward, Montrose; Joey Jacobs, Drexel; Wyatt Deel, Drexel; Drew Hon, Ballard; and Dylan Wackerman, Miami.

(In order of votes received) Katey Rider, Sr., Bronaugh; Abby Vogel, Fr., Montrose; Makinsey Conner, So., NEVC; Hanna Gorda, So., Hume; Maddy Jones, Jr., Drexel; Taylor Stratford, Sr., Bronaugh; Camryn East, Jr., Ballard; Meckinize McCartney, Fr., Sheldon; Jenna Eastwood, Sr., Drexel; and Leah Plunkett, Sr., Montrose.
